Maroons 1-2 URA
Swabir Mpasa handed BUL FC victory over Express FC with the only goal in a 1–0 win that gave Morley Byekwaso a losing start.
The midfielder, who was named Man of the Match, picked up a loose ball just inside the Express half before driving towards goal and firing past goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya from the edge of the box.
Express came close to levelling before the break when Derrick Byabachwezi cleared Aaron Mutebi’s corner off the line.
Both sides created opportunities after the restart, but the goalkeepers remained alert. Kigonya produced two important one-on-one saves to keep Express in the contest, while BUL’s Simon Achid missed two chances to extend the lead.
Express will look to bounce back in the Kampala derby against KCCA FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Thursday, while BUL travel to face Kataka FC.
At Wankulukuku, URA FC made a winning start under new head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera after coming from behind to beat Maroons FC 2–1. Darius Ojok put the hosts ahead in the first half before Disan Galiwango restored parity for URA.
Abraham Tusubira then completed the comeback by converting a late penalty to seal all three points for the visitors. URA will host SC Villa on Friday, while Maroons travel to Kamwokya to face Ntugasaze FC on Wednesday.
