Uganda Premier League: Lugazi FC axe Mugerwa, Sekweyama

Following conclusion of the 2025/26 season in which Lugazi secured another season in the topflight, they have parted ways with their head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa.

The club made the announcement on Monday adding Robert Sekweyama on the list of those to depart.

“Lugazi Football Club has mutually parted company with Head Coach Simon Peter Mugerwa. Assistant Coach – Robert Sekweyama has also departed.

“Mugerwa and Sekweyama worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at the club, but both the results and the performances fell below the team’s targets and expectations.”

Immediately, the club confirmed they are in the market for a new staff. “The club is now exploring options for the Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach roles, and further updates will follow in the due course.”

Lugazi ended the campaign in 13th position on 25 points.
