WAFCON 2026 : Ivory Coast beat Tanzania to reach quarters

Ivory Coast secured their place in the WAFCON 2026 quarter-finals after beating Tanzania 2-1 in their final Group B match. The Elephants controlled the contest and took the lead shortly before halftime through N’Sira Ouédraogo, who struck in the 44th minute. Reynald Pedros’ players then carried their advantage into the second half as they looked to secure qualification.

After the break, both coaches made several changes as Tanzania tried to find a way back into the game. Ivory Coast extended their lead in the 68th minute when I. Konan found the net, putting the Elephants in a strong position to claim victory.

Tanzania refused to give up, however, and D. Msewa pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 99th minute. The Twiga Stars pushed for an equalizer in the final moments, but Ivory Coast held on to secure the victory.

The victory puts Ivory Coast at the top of Group B with seven points. South Africa follow with four points, while Tanzania and Burkina Faso each have three. Ivory Coast can now turn their attention to the quarter-finals after completing an impressive group-stage campaign, while the remaining teams will continue fighting for the other qualification spot.
