WAFCON 2026: KONLAN EYES WORLD CUP SPOT AS BLACK QUEENS PREPARE FOR MALAWI TEST

Black Queens goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan has revealed that Ghana’s ultimate objective remains World Cup qualification as they gear up for their crucial WAFCON quarterfinal against Malawi.

Konlan emphasized the need for defensive discipline and communication in handling Malawi’s dangerous attacking threats.

“Malawi have good players, world-class players but we know how to handle them at the back. We only need to communicate effectively,” she stated.

Her comments reflect a focused Ghanaian side determined to take a major step toward global qualification.

The shot-stopper has been one of Ghana’s standout performers in the tournament, producing key saves at crucial moments to keep her side competitive. Her leadership from the back is expected to be vital once again.

Ghana’s defensive unit will need to operate as a cohesive block, with Konlan’s organisation and composure likely to play a decisive role in neutralising Malawi’s attacking threats.
