South Africa hold a 1-0 advantage over Burkina Faso at halftime in their decisive Group B clash at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The only goal of the first half came in the 21st minute when Thembi Kgatlana took full advantage of a defensive lapse by the Burkinabe backline.
Set through by a perfectly weighted long ball from Fikile Magama, the South African forward kept her composure to beat the goalkeeper and put Banyana Banyana ahead.
Despite Burkina Faso’s efforts to respond before the break, the Etalons Dames were unable to find an equalizer, leaving South Africa in control as the teams headed to the dressing rooms.
As things stand, Banyana Banyana are on course to secure a place in the quarterfinals, while Burkina Faso will need a strong second-half performance to keep their qualification hopes alive.
