WAFU B U-20:Flying Eagles Cruise Into Semi-Finals with Dominant Win over Togo

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have secured a place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship after defeating Togo’s Sparrow Hawks 3-0 in Yamoussoukro on Thursday.

The victory extends Nigeria’s winning start to the competition, following their 4-2 triumph over Ghana in the opening group match.

The result also ended Togo’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage, having earlier lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso.

The opening half produced few clear scoring opportunities, with both teams unable to break the deadlock before the interval.

Nigeria came out stronger after the restart and took the lead just a minute into the second half through striker Muiz Adeleke, who calmly converted to give the Flying Eagles the advantage.

Adeleke struck again in the 57th minute to double Nigeria’s lead, taking his tournament tally to four goals in two matches and reinforcing his fine goalscoring form.

The Flying Eagles sealed an emphatic victory in the 85th minute when Abdullahi Agbeloye added a third goal, completing an impressive second-half performance by Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side.

The win moves Nigeria to six points from two matches, guaranteeing a place in the last four with one group game still to play.

The Flying Eagles will conclude their Group B campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday.
