Zion Suzuki Undergoes Aston Villa Medical Ahead of €35m Move

Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, with the Parma shot-stopper undergoing his medical with the Premier League club on Monday morning.

The proposed transfer has been agreed between Aston Villa and Parma for a reported €30 million initial fee, plus a further €5 million in potential add-ons, taking the total value of the deal to €35 million.

Suzuki’s medical represents a major step towards completing the transfer, with the goalkeeper expected to finalise personal terms and complete the formalities of his move to Villa Park.

The deal remains on course despite the collapse of Emiliano Martinez’s proposed transfer to Juventus.

Villa had been involved in negotiations over the Argentine goalkeeper’s future, but the situation changed after the move to the Italian giants fell through.

Suzuki has emerged as Aston Villa’s preferred goalkeeping option as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the new season.

The 23-year-old Japanese goalkeeper has built a strong reputation in European football following his move to Parma and has impressed with his shot-stopping ability, composure in possession and command of his penalty area.

His performances have also established him as one of Japan’s leading goalkeeping talents, making the proposed move to the Premier League another significant step in his career.

For Aston Villa, the signing would provide further competition and depth in the goalkeeping department while potentially securing a long-term successor between the posts.

With his medical now underway, Villa are expected to move quickly to complete the remaining formalities before officially announcing Suzuki as their latest signing.

The €30 million agreement, with another €5 million available through add-ons, would make the transfer a significant investment by the Premier League club as they continue to strengthen their squad.
