Novak Djokovic won 14 of his last 17 games to defeat Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets in their second-round match at the Roland Garros.
Djokovic had a vintage performance, breaking Carballes Baena’s serve five times in a row at one point on route to a 6-4 6-1 6-2 triumph.
However, the unseeded Spaniard forced Djokovic to work extremely hard in the first set, breaking him in the first game before responding in kind.

Leading 5-4 on serve, Djokovic secured the key break to win the first set, and Carballes Baena was unable to recover, being broken four more times on his way to a 6-1 loss in the second set.
The pair’s previous two confrontations were both at hard-court majors, but the outcome was no different on the Parisian clay.
Djokovic cruised ahead 5-1 in the third set on his way to an easy triumph.
The Serb, hoping to add to his record 24 Grand Slam trophies with a fourth victory at Roland Garros, will face either Gael Monfils or 30th seed Lorenzo Musetti.
World No. 4 Alexander Zverev advanced to the third round on Thursday, defeating seasoned Belgian David Goffin 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 6-2.
The German, who defeated 14-times champion Rafael Nadal in the previous round, had to battle hard to win the first set tiebreak before breaking early in the second.
Former quarter-finalist Goffin almost broke Zverev’s serve in the fourth game, but the German held firm, switching up his game superbly to seal the victory.
Zverev will now face Italian Luciano Darderi or Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor.
5th seed Daniil Medvedev has also advanced to the third round as his opponent Miomir Kecmanovic resigned in the second set of their match, trailing 6-1 5-0.
