Kenya’s Harambee Stars threw away a second half lead to draw 1-1 against Burundi in their Group F fixture at Bingu National Stadium on Friday.
Duke Abuya gave Kenya the lead in the 72nd minute, but their joy was short-lived as Abdallah Sudi equalized for Burundi just 13 minutes later.
The draw leaves Kenya in third place with four points, just ahead of Burundi on goal difference.
Kenya coach Engin Firat handed a starting berth to Kenya U20 forward Timothy Ouma and Abud Omar, who were making a return to the team after missing out in March.
Daniel Anyembe and Johnstone Omurwa were trusted with the defensive duties while captain Michael Olunga led the line upfront alongside Cliffton Miheso and Timothy Ouma.
