Senegal’s Minister of Sports, Khady Diene, has disclosed the rationale behind their decision to not host the 2029 African Cup of Nations.
A few days ago, the 2021 champions said that they would no longer be bidding to host the biannual competition.

“Senegal since 1992, has not been able to organize an African Cup of Nations despite our reputation, our technicians and the players we have in the World”.
” We are thinking about it, and if it were up to us, Senegal would apply to organize the 2029 AFCON”.
” It’s not a promise but it’s in our minds, but at the moment, it is not possible”.
“The cause is lack of infrastructure, including stadiums; we do not yet have the infrastructure to organize an African Cup”.
“We are not yet up to standard, we will have to know which path to take”,
