La Liga Santander La Liga President Javier Tebas Opposes Dani Olmo’s Registration at Barcelona, Seeks Reversal

La Liga president Javier Tebas has strongly opposed the Spanish national sports council’s decision to allow Barcelona to register Spain forward Dani Olmo, insisting that a process is underway to overturn the ruling.

Speaking on the matter, Tebas made it clear that La Liga is taking formal steps to prevent Olmo’s registration, citing financial concerns and the league’s strict regulations.

“We are against his registration, and we are putting the resources that correspond to us in the corresponding organizations. And where we ask that he not be registered, logically,” Tebas stated.

The Barcelona hierarchy had been optimistic about securing Olmo’s transfer and integrating him into the squad, but with La Liga actively challenging the move, the situation remains uncertain. Tebas further emphasized that La Liga believes it has a strong case to block the transfer.

“Well, if we believe that he should not be registered, we obviously believe that we have a chance that he will not be registered,” he added.

Barcelona has been navigating financial restrictions under La Liga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, and this latest development could complicate their plans to reinforce the squad. The club is expected to defend its position, but with La Liga’s leadership taking a firm stand, Olmo’s future at the Catalan club hangs in the balance.
