New legal setback for Dani Alves as court rejects key requests

Dani Alves continues to face legal troubles in Spain. After being convicted of sexually assaulting a young woman at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on December 31, 2022, the former footballer was granted release on bail of one million euros last December following 14 months in prison.

However, his legal battle is far from over.

According to Sport, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has denied a request from Alves’ defense team for a new psychological evaluation of the victim. The court also rejected a report presented by the defense regarding fingerprints found by the Mossos d’Esquadra, Catalonia’s civil police, in the nightclub restroom where the assault occurred.

The only accepted request concerns documentary evidence related to media coverage of the case, with no further details disclosed. Alves remains under strict legal restrictions, including confiscation of his Brazilian and Spanish passports, a travel ban, weekly court appearances, and a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
