AFCON U17 Copper Princesses Hit 10 Past Morepeace in Warm-Up Match

Zambia sent a strong statement ahead of this weekend’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Tanzania with a commanding 10-1 victory over Lusaka Province Division One side Morepeace Football Club in a practice match played at Toyota Arena.

Carol Kanyemba’s side dominated the match with Sharon Siakaloba and Grace Phiri netting a brace each.
Ruth Mukoma, Lillian Mwenda, Lweendo Hanongo, Masela Sekeseke, Leah Mulenga and Pervis Kangalangala also found the back of the net to roundoff a strong performance while Morepeace’s only goal came from striker Natasha Makina, who grabbed a first-half consolation.

The test match served as a key preparatory test for the Copper Princesses, who will face Tanzania on Sunday, 9 March in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second round, first leg at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

The return leg is set for Saturday, 15 March 2025, at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the third and final qualification round where they will face either Benin or DR Congo for a place at the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Morocco from 17 October to 8 November.
