Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been confirmed as a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee during the organization’s Elective Congress held today, March 12, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt.
Okraku’s ascension to the CAF Executive Committee comes after he ran unopposed for the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B) position, reflecting the unanimous support from member associations within the zone. Prior to his confirmation, he successfully passed CAF’s mandatory integrity and eligibility tests, underscoring his commitment to upholding the values of African football governance.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the new role, Okraku stated, “Thrilled to share that I have been cleared to contest for a place on the Executive Committee of CAF, after successfully passing the integrity test. Excited for what lies ahead. May God guide us through this journey.”
Okraku’s journey in football administration has been marked by significant milestones. He assumed the presidency of the GFA in October 2019 and has been serving as the President of WAFU Zone B since May 2021. His leadership has been pivotal in promoting football development and fostering unity among West African nations.
The CAF Elective Congress not only confirmed Okraku’s position but also featured key elections, including that of the CAF President and FIFA Council representatives for the 2025–2029 cycle. These decisions are set to shape the future direction of African football, with Okraku’s inclusion in the Executive Committee expected to amplify Ghana’s voice in continental football affairs.
Ghanaians and football enthusiasts across the continent have lauded Okraku’s appointment, anticipating that his tenure will bring renewed vigor and strategic insights to CAF’s mission of advancing African football on the global stage.
