Liga Atlético Madrid: Angel Correa fixed on his suspension

Atlético Madrid Angel Correa fixed on his suspension

The Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee has officially sanctioned Angel Correa with a five-match suspension following his red card against Getafe, as reported by Marca.

The Atlético Madrid forward received a four-match ban for insulting referee Guillermo Cuadra Fernández and an additional one-match suspension for his dangerous tackle on Djené, which led to his initial expulsion. Although the Argentine risked up to 12 matches under Article 99 of the Disciplinary Code, the Committee opted for the minimum sanction, despite his public apology.

This ruling means Correa will miss crucial fixtures, including La Liga clashes against FC Barcelona, Espanyol, Sevilla, and Valladolid, as well as the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Barça. After the match, the striker publicly expressed regret, apologizing to the referee, his teammates, and the fans, acknowledging that his reaction was inappropriate in the heat of the moment.
