Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has shared his thoughts on the omission of Black Stars captain André Ayew from the latest squad selection. According to the former Udinese midfielder, while Ayew has been performing well, he respects the decision of head coach Otto Addo.
Speaking to the media, Agyemang-Badu stated, “We all know that the criteria for selecting players into the Black Stars is performance. André Ayew is performing, but if the coach has made a decision, we need to respect it.”
Ayew, Ghana’s most-capped player, was left out of the squad for the upcoming international matches, a move that has sparked debate among fans and pundits. However, Agyemang-Badu revealed that he has personally spoken to Ayew, and the veteran forward is taking the decision in stride.
“I have spoken to André Ayew, and he is not worried,” Agyemang-Badu assured. “He remains committed to the national team and will always be available when needed.”
Despite Ayew’s absence, the Black Stars will look to build a strong squad under Otto Addo as they prepare for their crucial fixtures. The decision to exclude the experienced forward signals a potential transition phase in the team, with younger talents being given opportunities.
For now, Ghanaian fans will be watching closely to see how the Black Stars perform without their long-time captain and whether Ayew will make a return in future call-ups.
