Nigeria FIFA WCQ: Zimbabwe Dents Super Eagles Hope Again

Zimbabwe held the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchday six match in Uyo on Tuesday, denting Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the global soccer fiesta.

With seven points from six games, Éric Chelle’s team moved to third place in Group C.

The Warriors held firm in the back as Eric Chelle’s team took complete control of the game.

Genk forward Tolu Arokodare took the place of Chukwueze one minute before the hour mark.

Nigeria took the lead through Osimhen in the 74th minute.

Osimhen nodded home Simon’s superb cross.

Substitute Tawanda Chirewa salvaged a point for Zimbabwe deep into stoppage time.
