Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has praised Russell Martin, for playing a crucial role in shaping his mentality and approach to football.
Sulemana, who worked under Martin at Southampton, acknowledged that the coach’s influence helped him develop resilience, especially during challenging periods when he struggled for game time.
“He shaped my mentality because when I wasn’t playing, I had to be a different kind of player, work 200 per cent, do more,” Sulemana revealed. “I had to always try my best to do double in order to maybe get the chance to play, so I think he’s made me way stronger mentality-wise.”
The talented winger also emphasized how Martin’s guidance taught him to remain focused and avoid dwelling on disappointments.
“It’s not about mourning when things go wrong because, obviously, if I was mourning, I would have mourned for the whole season, and that would be tiring,” he added.
Sulemana’s words highlight his growth under Martin’s leadership, showing how the coach instilled a mindset of perseverance and hard work. As the Ghanaian international continues his career, his strengthened mentality will undoubtedly be a key asset in his journey to success.
