Christian Chukwu, the former coach and player with the Super Eagles, is said to have died at the age of 74.

The tragic news was verified by Dr. Olusegun Odegbami, Chukwu’s friend and former Nigerian teammate.

However, at the time this report was filed, the circumstances surrounding his death were still unknown.

False rumours about Chukwu’s death had been going around for a while in 2021, thus on January 4, 2021, the great coach celebrated his 70th birthday and denied the rumours.

Chukwu is one of the Nigerian football players that has coached and played for the national team.

He later served as head coach of the Super Eagles in the early 2000s after leading the national team to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) championship in 1980.

His influence on the sport is still felt today.
