Relegation bound Ipswich Town on Sunday held Chelsea to a 2-2 at Stamford Bridge which has now left the home team looking over their shoulder for a lucrative Champions League position next season.
Enzo Maresca’s team, which had won their last five home league games, was taken aback by the visitors’ quick 2-0 lead in the first half.
Even though they were initially confined in their own half, in the 19th minute, Ipswich’s Paraguayan striker Julio Enciso slipped past Chelsea’s defenders to head home a cross from right back Ben Johnson.

Enciso returned the favour twelve minutes later, crossing for Johnson to go home, and Chelsea was unable to regain their momentum, which led to raucous jeering from the home crowd at the break.
Axel Tuanzebe’s own goal just after halftime gave Chelsea hope, and in the 79th minute, substitute Jadon Sancho curled a ball into the top corner, setting up a wild finish in which both teams nearly won.
Alex Palmer, did well as he denied Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez in added time after saving a point-blank attempt by Trevoh Chalobah in the 85th minute.
Chelsea dropped to the bottom of the five Champions League slots after the draw, but they still have a game left and are only one point above of Newcastle United, who were scheduled to play Manchester United later on Sunday.
Ipswich, who finished in 18th position, will almost certainly be back in the second division the following season.
With six games remaining, they are 14 points behind West Ham United, who are barely out of the bottom three.
