Football Jürgen Klopp turns down Real Madrid approach—no return before 2026

Despite persistent rumors linking him to the Real Madrid job, Jürgen Klopp will not return to coaching before the summer of 2026.

The Telegraph has confirmed that the former Liverpool manager, now working in a strategic role within the Red Bull football group, has no intention of stepping back into a managerial role anytime soon. His agent, Marc Kosicke, had already made it clear: Klopp is prioritizing rest and personal balance after nearly a decade at the helm of Liverpool.

This decision puts an end to Real Madrid’s short-term hopes of bringing the German to the Santiago Bernabéu. And with Xabi Alonso’s release clause at Bayer Leverkusen standing at €15 million, the Spanish legend is also unlikely to make the move this summer. With both top options off the table, the likeliest outcome is that Carlo Ancelotti will remain in charge of Los Blancos for another season.
