His agent, Marc Kosicke, had already made it clear: Klopp is prioritizing rest and personal balance after nearly a decade at the helm of Liverpool.

This decision puts an end to Real Madrid’s short-term hopes of bringing the German to the Santiago Bernabéu. And with Xabi Alonso’s release clause at Bayer Leverkusen standing at €15 million, the Spanish legend is also unlikely to make the move this summer. With both top options off the table, the likeliest outcome is that Carlo Ancelotti will remain in charge of Los Blancos for another season.
