Nigeria’s Ruth Usoro has booked her place in the women’s long jump final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in impressive fashion, needing just one attempt to secure automatic qualification.
Usoro produced a season’s best leap of 6.77 metres (+0.6m/s) with her opening attempt, comfortably clearing the automatic qualifying standard of 6.70m.
The Nigerian athlete wasted no time in making her mark, delivering a powerful first jump that immediately placed her among the finalists and ended the need for further attempts in the qualifying round.
