2026 FIFA World Cup: FIFA Unveils Final Referees

FIFA has officially appointed Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic to officiate Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New York, New Jersey.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. GMT.

The 46-year-old from Maribor becomes the first Slovenian referee in history to take charge of a FIFA World Cup final.

The appointment crowns an outstanding career that has seen him officiate at the highest level, including the 2024 UEFA Champions League final.

During the 2026 World Cup, Vincic impressed in his three assignments, earning FIFA’s confidence for the tournament’s biggest match.

He will be assisted by fellow Slovenians Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic, while Adham Makhadmeh of Jordan will serve as fourth official and Mohammad Alkalaf as reserve assistant referee.
