2026 FIFA World cup: Morocco and Brazil Deadlocked After Entertaining First Half

Morocco and Brazil went into the halftime break locked at 1-1 after an absorbing opening 45 minutes of their FIFA World Cup Group C encounter, with both sides producing moments of quality in a fiercely contested contest.

The Atlas Lions made their dominance count in the 20th minute, just moments before the first hydration break. Midfielder Ismaila Saibari latched onto a perfectly weighted pass from Brahim Diaz and immediately surged through the Brazilian defense. Showing composure beyond measure, Saibari raced past his markers before delicately lobbing the ball over advancing goalkeeper Alisson Becker to hand Morocco a deserved 1-0 lead.

Morocco continued to look dangerous as Brazil struggled to contain their pace and movement, but the South Americans gradually found their rhythm and began to threaten going forward.

Their breakthrough arrived 12 minutes later when Vinícius Júnior produced a moment of brilliance to restore parity. The Real Madrid star collected an intelligent pass from Bruno Guimarães on the edge of the area and unleashed a superb strike that flew beyond the Moroccan goalkeeper and rattled the back of the net, making it 1-1.

The equaliser shifted the momentum of the game, with Brazil growing into the contest while Morocco remained dangerous on the counterattack. Both sides created openings before the interval, but neither could find a decisive second goal.

With the score level at halftime, the second half promises to be an enthralling battle as Morocco seek to regain control and Brazil look to build on their late first-half resurgence.
