Qatar and Switzerland open their 2026 World Cup campaign this Saturday in San Francisco, hours after Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina drew in the same group.
Neither coach has been hampered by injuries and both have a full squad available for this opening match.
Switzerland is relying on its usual core, with Granit Xhaka, Manuel Akanji, Denis Zakaria, and Breel Embolo in the starting lineup.
On the other side, Qatar is counting on captain Boualem Khoukhi and Akram Afif to get the tournament off to a strong start.
Starting lineups:
Qatar: Abunada – Al Oui, Pedro Miguel, Khoukhi, Homam – Laye, Madibo, Gaber – Edmilson, Abdurisag, Afif.
Switzerland: Kobel – Elvedi, Akanji, Zakaria – Aebischer, Freuler, Xhaka, Rodriguez – Vargas, Embolo, Ndoye.
