Gambia assistant coach Abdou Jammeh says the Scorpions are focused on the players available for selection rather than dwelling on the notable absentees ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana.
Several key players have been mentioned among those missing from the Gambian squad for the crucial encounter, but Jammeh insists the team must concentrate on those currently in camp.
“Yes, you mentioned players that are important to us but as far as they are not here, we’re relying on the players that are here currently,” Jammeh said.
The assistant coach acknowledged the importance of the absent players but stressed that their absence cannot become an excuse for the Scorpions.
Gambia will face Ghana in Accra as both sides look to strengthen their position in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign. Jammeh says the players available must now take responsibility and deliver when the two teams meet.
