Nicholas Opoku: “It Has Always Been a Dream for Me to Play in LALIGA”

Ghanaian defender Nicholas Opoku has described his move to UD Las Palmas as a dream come true after completing his switch to the Spanish club.

Opoku revealed that former Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso played a key role in helping him understand what to expect at Las Palmas before making the move.

“I was talking to Wakaso about the club, and he gave me good feedback. He told me about the seriousness of the club, its structure, and the people,” Opoku said.

The defender added that he was determined to complete the transfer quickly once he learned of Las Palmas’ strong interest in him.

“When my agent told me that there was great interest from Las Palmas in me, I wanted to make sure the deal was closed as soon as possible,” he added.

Opoku says the move represents the fulfilment of a long-held ambition to play in Spain’s top flight.

“It has always been a dream for me to play in LALIGA, and being here is a dream,” he said.

The Ghanaian will now look to establish himself at UD Las Palmas as he begins a new chapter in Spanish football.
