Bayern Munich open talks to extend Harry Kane’s stay in Bundesliga

Bayern Munich’s board member for sport Max Eberl has confirmed that talks over a potential contract extension for Harry Kane have begun.

Earlier this week, Kane, whose contract in Munich expires at the end of the current season, revealed that negotiations over a possible extension to his deal “will begin either this week or next week.”

The 33-year-old started for Bayern in their Franz Beckenbauer Supercup triumph in Dortmund, where Eberl confirmed to media that “talks have begun”.

The England captain, who has finished as Bundesliga top scorer in each of his three seasons in Germany since his move from Tottenham Hotspur in summer 2023, added that “now is the right time,” for the talks to take place, and that “both parties are relaxed about it”.

Kane has netted 98 Bundesliga goals in 94 outings for Bayern, as well as 33 in 38 in the UEFA Champions League, and 11 in eight DFB Cup appearances. During his time in Munich he has won two league titles and the DFB Cup once, while he has also lifted the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup twice.
