Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah has explained why he opted to join German side FC Köln despite receiving offers from several clubs across Europe.
Mensah revealed that he had multiple opportunities on the table before ultimately deciding that Köln was the right destination for the next stage of his career.
“I had offers from so many clubs, most of them from European countries,” Mensah said.
The Ghana international explained that discussions with interested clubs helped him understand their plans for him, but Köln stood out because of the project presented to him and the role they envisioned.
“But I chose Koln because when clubs contact you, you speak to them and then you get to know their projects and their intentions for you as a player,” he added.
Mensah’s decision highlights the importance he placed not only on the club itself but also on having a clear understanding of how he would fit into the team and develop as a player.
The move to Köln represents another chapter in Mensah’s European career as he looks to establish himself in Germany and continue his development at the highest level.
