Mali: Alpha Guitteye Withdraws from Electoral Body

Alpha Amadou Guitteye has officially submitted his resignation from his position as vice president and member of the First-Instance Electoral Commission of the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT).

In a letter addressed to the chairman of the Executive Committee, this Officer of the National Order brings to a close more than forty years of service to Malian soccer, including five years spent on this electoral body.

This carefully considered decision comes amid a climate marked by significant tensions surrounding national soccer elections.

Eager to pass the torch after expressing this desire on several occasions, the leader believes that his age and career now call upon him to assume the role of a wise counselor, conciliator, and mediator to help calm the situation.

Asserting that he has always acted with fairness, transparency, and responsibility, Alpha Amadou Guitteye is stepping down from his duties with a sense of a job well done.

He concludes his tenure by expressing his hope that Malian soccer will emerge from this period of turmoil to regain unity, serenity, and the path to progress.
