CAFCL: Medeama Fall to TP Mazembe in league Opener

Medeama SC suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to TP Mazembe in the first leg of their CAF Champions League qualifying tie at the TnA Stadium.

The Mauve and Yellows produced a competitive performance but were unable to find the breakthrough despite a goalless first half. Both sides battled for control in the opening 45 minutes, with neither able to convert their opportunities as the game remained 0–0 at the interval.

Medeama continued to push for an opener after the restart, but their efforts were ultimately punished late in the contest.

TP Mazembe found the decisive goal in the 86th minute through Lyse Nyembo, who struck to give the Congolese giants a crucial advantage heading into the second leg.

The result leaves Medeama with a difficult task as they prepare to travel away from home for the return fixture. The Ghanaian club will need to overturn the 1–0 deficit to keep their hopes of advancing in the CAF Champions League alive.

Despite the defeat, Medeama can take encouragement from their competitive display and will now turn their attention to the second leg, where they must improve their finishing and find a way past the experienced Mazembe side.
