Rivers United assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju has raised concerns over the lack of quality strikers and goalscorers in the Nigerian domestic league following the clubβs early exit from the CAF Champions League.
Rivers United crashed out in the first qualifying round, ending their hopes of progressing further in Africaβs premier club competition.
Speaking after the disappointment, Olanrewaju pointed to the shortage of proven goalscorers in the Nigerian league as one of the challenges facing clubs competing at continental level.
His comments have sparked further discussion about the quality of attacking talent available in Nigerian football and the need for clubs to develop more clinical forwards capable of making an impact on the continental stage.
