The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has announced the preliminary squad selected by Zebras head coach Morena Ramoreboli for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ramoreboli has named a 57-man squad, with the selection featuring five goalkeepers, 17 defenders, 13 midfielders and 18 attackers as Botswana begin preparations for their qualification campaign.
Among the notable names in the squad are Jwaneng Galaxy players, including defenders Botsile Sakana, Tebogo Kopelang and Larona Modisaemang, midfielders Keitumetse Samuzala and Olebogeng Ramotse, and attackers Tshepo Keselebalela and Boikabo Ran Tena.
The squad also includes players based outside Botswana, such as Gape Motsiwsa, who plays for Ittihad Tanger in Morocco, and defender Thayatayne Ditlhokwe of Al Wehdat.
Experienced figures and locally based players from clubs including Gaborone United, Township Rollers, Orapa United, Police XI, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Tonota FC also feature prominently.
Ramoreboli will use the preliminary selection as the basis for preparing the Zebras for their 2027 AFCON qualifying assignments as Botswana seek to secure a place at the continental tournament.
The BFA said the squad announcement forms part of the country’s preparations for the qualifiers, with the Zebras aiming to make their mark in the race for qualification.
