Nigerian goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo continues to make his mark in the English Championship, producing another solid defensive display for Charlton Athletic.
Okonkwo kept a clean sheet in Charlton Athletic’s 0-0 draw against Queens Park Rangers, making it back-to-back clean sheets for the Nigerian international after his previous shutout against Preston North End.
The QPR stalemate followed Charlton’s 1-0 victory over Preston, meaning Okonkwo has now kept three clean sheets in six Championship appearances this season. His other clean sheet came in the win over Preston.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has established himself as Charlton’s first-choice goalkeeper since joining the club on loan from Wrexham.
He has played every minute of Charlton’s five Championship matches in which he has featured, accumulating 450 minutes.
His recent run of form is particularly encouraging after Charlton suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Stoke City on September 5.
Okonkwo responded with a clean sheet against QPR just four days later, helping Charlton secure a point.
Charlton’s next Championship fixture is against Portsmouth at The Valley on September 12, with Okonkwo expected to continue between the posts.
