The 2026/27 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season produced another entertaining round of fixtures on Matchday 3, with goals, late drama and an exciting Lagos derby dominating the headlines.
Doma United had already set the pace on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Enyimba, maintaining their perfect start to the campaign.

Sunday’s action then delivered several eye-catching results, including big wins for Bendel Insurance, Sporting Lagos and Kwara United, while Abia Warriors and Ikorodu City shared the points in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Abia Warriors 2-2 Ikorodu City
Abia Warriors fought back twice to earn a 2-2 draw against Ikorodu City.
Emeka Obioma opened the scoring for the home side in the 15th minute, but Ikorodu City responded quickly through Ilechukwu Junior seven minutes later.
The visitors then moved ahead when Akorede Adeoye found the net in the 31st minute.
Just when it appeared Ikorodu City would hold on for an important away victory, Obioma struck again in the 83rd minute to complete his brace and rescue a point for Abia Warriors.
Barau FC 3-1 Ranchers Bees
Barau FC claimed an important 3-1 victory over fellow newcomers Ranchers Bees.
Ahmadu Liman put Barau ahead in the 29th minute before Ranchers Bees reduced the deficit through Mohammed Rabiu Zulkifilu in the 80th minute.
However, Barau finished strongly.
Kennedy Otunuya restored the hosts’ advantage in the third minute of added time before Sugau Aliyu converted a penalty one minute later to seal a convincing victory.
Bendel Insurance 4-2 Kun Khalifat
Bendel Insurance produced one of the standout performances of Matchday 3, defeating Kun Khalifat 4-2 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Alex Oweilayefa gave the Benin Arsenal an early lead after just five minutes before Suraju Lawal doubled the advantage in the 19th minute.
Chinedu Nwosu then took centre stage, scoring in the 47th and 71st minutes to put Bendel Insurance firmly in control.
Kun Khalifat attempted a late comeback after Uchechukwu Onuoha converted a 68th-minute penalty, while Oghenetega Ebetomame added another goal in the 85th minute.
The two goals, however, were not enough to prevent Bendel Insurance from securing all three points.
Bendel Insurance had entered the match looking to respond after their 1-0 defeat away to Nasarawa United on Matchday 2.
Inter Lagos 0-3 Sporting Lagos
Sporting Lagos claimed bragging rights in the first top-flight meeting between the two Lagos clubs with a convincing 3-0 victory over Inter Lagos.
Sodiq Ayoade gave Sporting Lagos an early lead in the seventh minute.
Aliyu Baba doubled the advantage in the 59th minute before Valentine Ogwu completed the scoring deep into stoppage time.
The result gives Sporting Lagos an important boost in the Lagos football battle, while Inter Lagos suffered another setback after their narrow 1-0 defeat to Doma United on Matchday 2.
Kwara United 3-0 Katsina United
Kwara United also enjoyed a comfortable afternoon, defeating Katsina United 3-0.
Ali Ferinyaro opened the scoring in the 32nd minute before Tosin Olawale doubled Kwara United’s lead 10 minutes after the restart.
Issa Gata completed the scoring in the 65th minute as Kwara United secured a commanding three-goal victory.
Niger Tornadoes 1-1 Plateau United
The encounter between Niger Tornadoes and Plateau United was still incomplete at the time of the latest update.
The two teams were locked at 1-1 when heavy rain forced the game to be stopped in the 84th minute.
The remaining six minutes, plus additional time, are scheduled to be completed on Monday morning at 8:30am.
