The Super Eagles of Nigeria will hold their first training session in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday as preparations intensify for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Nigeria will face Madagascar in their opening Group qualifier on Friday, September 25, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe, disclosed the training schedule on Monday night.
According to Efoghe, the first 15 minutes of Tuesday’s training session will be open to members of the media for coverage, while the entire squad will meet journalists for exclusive interviews on Wednesday at the team’s base in Ikot Ekpene.
The three-time African champions are expected to use the training sessions to fine-tune their tactics and build match fitness ahead of the encounter with the Barea of Madagascar.
Following Friday’s opening fixture, Nigeria will travel to face Guinea-Bissau in their second qualifying match on Tuesday, September 29.
The Super Eagles head into the Madagascar clash with a strong recent record against the Barea, having won their last three meetings.
Meanwhile, Madagascar have already arrived in Uyo ahead of Friday’s encounter.
The Barea delegation, comprising 28 players and officials, landed at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, on Sunday at about 2:05 p.m. before proceeding to their hotel after completing immigration formalities.
Additional members of the Madagascar delegation are expected to arrive in Uyo on Tuesday.
With both teams now stepping up preparations, attention turns to Friday’s opening 2027 AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and Madagascar in Uyo.
