Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa has praised his players following Ghana’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Burkina Faso in their opening game of the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup.
Ghana made a commanding start to the competition, scoring twice in the first half before adding two more goals after the break to secure a convincing victory and lay down an early marker in the tournament.
Despite the comfortable scoreline, Adarkwa stressed that the competition forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with every fixture providing an opportunity for his players to gain valuable experience.
“It’s a very good game and a nice game for my girls. We are here to prepare the team for the World Cup. So every match is a preparation match for Ghana,” Adarkwa said.
The coach was pleased with the manner in which his side opened the campaign and expressed hope that the team can maintain its momentum throughout the competition.
“So we are happy. We have started on a good note, and we are hoping that we are going to end on a good note,” he added.
The Black Maidens will now turn their attention to their next assignment as they continue their quest for success in the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup while using the tournament as an important stage in their World Cup preparations.
