Euromatch NPFL:Rivers United Beat Warri Wolves 2-0 to Move Third in NPFL

Rivers United continued their strong start to the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season with a 2-0 victory over Warri Wolves at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

The result gave the Pride of Rivers their second league victory of the campaign, moving them to third place with six points after two matches. Warri Wolves, meanwhile, remain without a point after two games.

Rivers United broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute through Abdulrasheed Dabai, who finished off a well-worked team move to put the hosts ahead.

The home side went into the break with their 1-0 advantage and continued to control the contest after the restart.

Warri Wolves attempted to find a way back into the game, but Rivers United remained defensively organised and eventually doubled their advantage in the 75th minute.

Chinemerem Ugwueze produced a powerful volley that beat the Wolves goalkeeper to make it 2-0 and effectively settle the contest.

The victory is another positive result for Rivers United following their opening-day 2-0 win over Plateau United.

The Port Harcourt club had also been involved in CAF Champions League action earlier in September, where they were eliminated by Ivorian side San-Pedro after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.

Rivers United will now turn their attention to their next NPFL fixture away to Nasarawa United on September 20, while Warri Wolves are scheduled to face Rangers International on September 30.
