Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus has opted out of the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia.
The 26-year-old has reportedly decided to use the international break to continue his recovery and regain full match fitness following a lengthy injury layoff.
Kudus only recently returned to competitive action and has yet to complete a full 90 minutes this season. His limited playing time appears to have influenced the decision to allow him additional time to rebuild his fitness before returning to international duty.
The Tottenham Hotspur forward was expected to be part of Carlos Queiroz’s squad for Ghana’s upcoming qualifiers, but his withdrawal means the Black Stars will have to prepare for the two fixtures without one of their key attacking players.
Ghana are scheduled to face Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia as they begin their campaign for a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
Kudus’ decision is aimed at giving him more time to fully recover from his injury and return to peak physical condition before resuming regular international football.
