Kano Pillars produced one of their most impressive performances of the 2026/27 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday, defeating previously unbeaten Doma United 4-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
The victory was highlighted by goals from two of Nigerian football’s most experienced active players, Rabiu Ali and Ahmed Musa, who continue to find the net despite being 45 and 33 years old respectively
Their goals underlined the enduring influence of the two veterans as Kano Pillars brought Doma United’s perfect start to an end.
Kano Pillars made a bright start and took the lead in the 19th minute through Abdullahi Musa.
The home side doubled its advantage in the 32nd minute when captain Rabiu Ali found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
For the 45-year-old midfielder, the goal was another reminder of his remarkable longevity in Nigerian professional football.
Ali remains an important figure for Kano Pillars, having featured regularly for the club in the NPFL.
Doma United responded after the break, with Sadiq Rilwanu reducing the deficit in the 53rd minute.
Just when Doma United appeared to have given themselves a route back into the contest, Ahmed Musa restored Kano Pillars’ two-goal cushion.
The former Super Eagles captain struck in the 77th minute to make it 3-1.
At 33, Musa continues to contribute goals at NPFL level after returning to Kano Pillars. He scored six league goals in the 2025/26 season and has remained an important attacking option for the club.
Nasiru Salihu then completed the scoring in stoppage time to seal a convincing 4-1 victory for the Sai Masu Gida.
The result demonstrated the importance of experience in the NPFL, with Ali and Musa both getting on the scoresheet despite the significant age difference between them and many of their teammates.
At 45, Rabiu Ali continues to compete and score in Nigeria’s top flight, while 33-year-old Ahmed Musa remains capable of making a decisive attacking contribution.
Their performances against Doma United provide another striking example of veteran players maintaining their relevance in the NPFL, combining experience with goals to help Kano Pillars secure a commanding Matchday 4 victory.
