Fresh questions surround David Pagou’s position as Cameroon’s head coach after Cyrille Tollo, a senior MINSEP official, addressed the coach’s administrative status. Tollo says Pagou remains a Ministry of Sports employee despite his appointment by FECAFOOT.
According to Tollo, Pagou never received an official secondment to FECAFOOT and never submitted a request for one. The official argues that the situation could fall under the rules governing abandonment of post, although he confirmed that the ministry has not launched any disciplinary procedure against the coach. He also said FECAFOOT, which appointed Pagou, must handle his salary rather than the state.
The dispute also raises questions about the procedure for appointing Cameroon’s national team coach. Tollo says the ministry has not received any presidential instruction naming a new coach. At the same time, an official ministry delegation for the upcoming matches identifies Pagou as the Lions’ head coach, adding another layer to the ongoing MINSEP-FECAFOOT dispute.
