Zambia Super League: Dynamos edge NAPSA Stars to claim maximum points

Zambia Super League champions Power Dynamos secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over NAPSA Stars, with Wilson Chisala’s first-half strike proving decisive in the encounter.

The match got off to a lively start, with NAPSA Stars enjoying a few promising moments. However, the visitors dominated much of the first half, creating several scoring opportunities but failing to convert them.

The breakthrough finally came in the 41st minute through a well-worked move initiated by Ismael Ankobo who cleverly left the ball for Wilson Chisala. Chisala took possession, dribbled forward before unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box to put Power Dynamos ahead.

Abayellow went into the half-time break with a deserved 1-0 advantage. At the start of the second half, Innocent Kashita was introduced for Marvin Nabwire as Power Dynamos looked to maintain their momentum. Salulani Phiri later replaced Titus Chansa in the 71st minute, while Fabrice Ndeh Nsoh came on for goalscorer Wilson Chisala in the 85th minute.

Nsoh had an opportunity to extend the lead after finding himself one-on-one with NAPSA Stars goalkeeper Charles Lawu, who had come off his line. However, his effort went wide. Despite the missed opportunities, Power Dynamos held on to their slender advantage to secure all three points.

Speaking after the match, Head Coach Osward Mutapa expressed satisfaction with the victory but was quick to point out the team’s failure to convert their chances.

“We are still missing so many chances. We could have buried this game in the first half. Hope we improve going forward,” he said.

The victory sees Power Dynamos continue their campaign with an important three points, while Chisala’s first-half effort proved enough to separate the two sides.
