Ghana’s Black Maidens produced a commanding performance to defeat Niger 6-1 in their WAFU-B U17 Girls’ Cup clash.
Niger struck early after just two minutes to take a 1-0 lead, but Ghana responded almost immediately through Anita Yeboah, who restored parity in the 10th minute.
The Black Maidens then took control of the contest. Abass put Ghana ahead in the 21st minute before Zeinab added a third seven minutes later to give the West Africans a 3-1 advantage at half-time.
Ghana continued their dominance after the break, with Yeboah scoring her second of the match in the 47th minute to extend the lead to 4-1. Seidatu of The Oaks FC (the female team for Accra Hearts of Oak) then produced a long-range effort in the 51st minute to make it 5-1.
Zeinab was booked in the 70th minute as Ghana maintained their comfortable advantage through the closing stages.
With five minutes of added time played, Sekina completed the rout with Ghana’s sixth goal to seal an emphatic 6-1 victory.
The result gives the Black Maidens a strong response in the tournament as they continue their campaign in the WAFU-B U17 Girls’ Cup.
