Issa Diop expressed his excitement ahead of Morocco’s clash with Lesotho in South Africa, as he prepares for his first competitive appearance in this part of the continent. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the defender welcomed the challenge and stressed his determination to help the Atlas Lions secure a positive result.
“It’s my first time in South Africa. It will also be my first away match in Africa. It’s something new for me, and I’m really looking forward to taking on this challenge,” Diop said.
The defender also acknowledged the difficulties that often come with away matches in Africa and called for a strong performance from Morocco.
“We know that away games in Africa are tough. I hope that tomorrow we’ll put in a top-class performance and win the match,” he added. Diop believes discipline and focus will prove crucial as Morocco look to start Matchday 2 of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers with another positive result.
