The Sudan Football Association (SFA) has lodged a formal complaint with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) challenging the eligibility of Mozambique international Bruno Ricardo Valdez Wilson.
Wilson, who wears the No. 15 shirt for Mozambique, is at the centre of the dispute after Sudan raised questions over his international status.
According to the SFA, the player previously represented Portugal at youth international level. The Sudanese federation claims it has not seen any official documents or decisions confirming that Wilson completed the required process to change his sporting nationality from Portugal to Mozambique in accordance with FIFA regulations.
The SFA argues that, in the absence of evidence confirming the completion of the switch, Wilson’s participation for Mozambique could constitute a breach of the applicable eligibility regulations.
The complaint has now been submitted to the CAF Competitions Committee, which will determine whether the player’s participation was in accordance with the relevant FIFA and CAF regulations.
