Manchester United could be set to permanently part ways with André Onana. Currently on loan at Trabzonspor for the second consecutive season, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has been performing well in Turkey and has once again impressed the club’s leadership. The Turkish side now wishes to negotiate a permanent transfer, as Manchester United reportedly no longer views him as part of their long-term plans.
According to Türkiye, Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan wants to accelerate talks with Manchester United and the player’s representatives. The English club has reportedly set Onana’s price at around €10 million, a figure Trabzonspor considers high—particularly given his salary, estimated at €5.5 million per year excluding bonuses.
Under contract with Manchester United until 2028, Onana could leave England for good following a difficult spell since his arrival from Inter Milan for approximately €54.5 million. However, the 30-year-old goalkeeper has regained his confidence at Trabzonspor, where he has already kept two clean sheets in six league appearances.
Negotiations are expected to focus on the transfer fee, salary, and the length of the future contract. Trabzonspor hopes to convince Manchester United to lower its asking price, while Onana is reportedly open to settling in Turkey long-term. According to reports from Turkey, a five-year contract could even be on the table for the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
