Delta State Commissioner for Sports, Onoriode Oborevwori, has urged Warri Wolves to quickly move on from their 1-0 defeat to Rangers International and concentrate on their next Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture.
The Commissioner spoke to the players after Wednesday’s Matchday 6 encounter at the Southern Delta University Stadium in Ozoro, where Rangers secured all three points through a narrow victory.
Oborevwori acknowledged the disappointment of the result and expressed the view that the officiating did not favour the Seasiders.
Despite the setback, he encouraged the players to remain united and positive, stressing that the defeat should not affect their confidence ahead of their next assignment.
“Please put the game behind, focus on the next game. I believe in you guys.
“Your next match, I know you can do it. Let’s go and get the big three points,” he told the team.
The Commissioner also demonstrated his support for the players by presenting them with a monetary appreciation after the game.
Warri Wolves’ NPFL Campaign
Warri Wolves have experienced a mixed opening to the 2026/27 NPFL season, with two victories, two defeats and one draw from their opening five league matches before the Rangers encounter.
The Seasiders began the campaign with a 2-1 defeat away to Bendel Insurance in Benin City before losing 2-0 to Rivers United in Port Harcourt.
They subsequently produced a response at home, defeating Kwara United 1-0 to record their first league victory of the season.
A goalless draw against Niger Tornadoes in Minna followed, before Warri Wolves returned home to beat Shooting Stars 1-0 and claim another important three points.
Their positive run was halted by Rangers, who secured a 1-0 victory in Ozoro to hand the Seasiders their first home defeat of the campaign.
Warri Wolves Face Doma United Next
Attention now turns to Matchday 7, with Warri Wolves facing another demanding away fixture against Doma United at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
The encounter is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, with kick-off set for 4:00pm.
Doma United have also made an encouraging start to the season, picking up home victories against Sporting Lagos and Enyimba, as well as an away win over Inter Lagos.
However, they will enter Sunday’s fixture looking to respond after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Katsina United in their most recent outing.
For Warri Wolves, the trip to Gombe offers an immediate opportunity to recover from the Rangers loss and return to winning ways.
The Seasiders will be hoping to translate the encouragement from the Delta State Sports Council into a strong performance as they continue their push for valuable points in the NPFL.
