The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will conduct the fixtures draw for the 2026/27 season during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Friday, August 7, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The AGM serves as the league’s highest decision-making gathering, bringing together the NPFL Board and club representatives to assess the just-concluded campaign and approve key policies and plans for the new season.
Since taking charge of the league, NPFL Chairman, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, has overseen reforms that have helped maintain a more predictable football calendar.
Over the past four seasons, the league has consistently started in August and concluded in May, providing greater stability for clubs and stakeholders.
Speaking on the league’s progress, Elegbeleye said one of the administration’s notable accomplishments has been restoring consistency to the domestic football calendar.
“Our modest achievement includes putting the NPFL on a stable calendar since the 2023/24 season. It is a major shift from the era of never knowing when the season will be concluded.”
He also highlighted improvements in television coverage of the league, noting that efforts to expand live broadcasts have produced encouraging results.
“We have succeeded to a large extent in this direction but still have much more work to do.”
During the meeting, the NPFL’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, will present the league’s technical and operational report, while GTI Assets Management is expected to deliver the financial report.
The fixtures for the 2026/27 campaign will be officially unveiled after the AGM, following the earlier confirmation of the season’s kickoff date.
The meeting will take place at the Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Events Hall, opposite the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
