Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda says there are no special players in the team as Zambia prepare to face Uganda in the first leg of the second round of the 2028 CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifier on Thursday.
Speaking during the pre – match press conference Wednesday morning, Banda said the team is united and every player has to fight for her position ahead of the match to be played at Hamz, Nakivubo Stadium with kickoff set for 15h00 CAT.
“I will tell you, our team has got no special players. We are all equal. Our youngsters are so much talented, I can assure you; I have to fight for that position because I can’t just come and say I have it all in the team because we have competition,” Banda said.
Banda explained that the experience of the senior players will help the young players, who have earned their places in the senior team through hard work. She also said the new players have brought competition for places and challenged the senior players to raise their game.
The skipper said the Copper Queens are not underrating Uganda and are aware of the challenge that awaits them in Kampala.
Banda said the team has been preparing with the target of winning the two – legged tie and qualifying for the next round.
“As a team we only have one goal. To win so that we qualify for the next round. The team is ready,” she said.
