CAF’s 54 Member Associations Back Infantino for Another FIFA Term

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reaffirmed its “unanimous and unconditional” support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino as he seeks another term in office from 2027.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, flanked by the heads of all 54 African football associations, reiterated the continent’s collective backing for Infantino.

The show of support underlines the strong relationship between CAF and the FIFA leadership, with African football’s governing body publicly aligning itself behind Infantino ahead of the next FIFA presidential election.

Motsepe also expressed his appreciation to the FIFA president, thanking Infantino “for all he does for African football.”

The endorsement from all 54 CAF member associations represents a significant boost for Infantino as he prepares to seek another mandate and further strengthens his position among the global football community.

Africa has increasingly played a prominent role in FIFA’s international agenda under Infantino, with the continent benefiting from expanded opportunities and increased representation across FIFA competitions and programmes.

With the 2027 FIFA presidential election approaching, CAF’s united position places the continent firmly behind Infantino’s bid for another term.
